International Epilepsy Day – Hong Kong 2025

International Epilepsy Day – Hong Kong 2025 Organizing Committee is formed by six organizations dedicated to epilepsy awareness, including the Epilepsy Foundation of Hong Kong, Health and Social Exchange of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Epilepsy Society, The Hong Kong Brain Foundation, Hong Kong Epilepsy Association, and The Hong Kong Neurological Society.
In line with this year’s theme from the International Epilepsy Day, "My Epilepsy Journey," we organised the cruise tour "Epilepsy Voyage" and invited individuals with epilepsy and their caregivers to enjoy a tour of Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong. Onboard, there were talks by doctors, game booths, and colouring activities, buffet, allowing everyone to have fun together while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Victoria Harbour.
Former Secretary for Food and Health, Dr. Ko Wing-man, shared on the "Fun Day" about renaming epilepsy in Chinese. Through active collaboration across various sectors of the community, including the government, Hospital Authority, health and social care sectors, and the persons with epilepsy, the Chinese name of epilepsy was officially renamed from “癲癇症”  to  “腦癇症”  to enhance public understanding of epilepsy as a common neurological disorder, facilitate medical consultations for treatment,  and enable patients to live with their condition with a positive attitude.
Doctors, social workers, nurses, persons with epilepsy, and their families have once again joined hands in this event, aiming to build an inclusive and epilepsy-friendly society. See you next year!
