He explained that there are different types and patterns of seizures and that medication is the main treatment option. Pharmacist Leung Shek Ming, Lecturer of the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, explained the efficacy and side effects of epilepsy drugs, as well as the importance of medication adherence.
Pharmacist Vincent Wong, Honorary Tutor of the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, elaborated on the difficulties patients often encounter when taking medication, and shared the experience of collaboration between the healthcare team and community organisations.
There was a Q&A session during which participants raised different questions about the treatment and medication of epilepsy. Finally, Dr. Anchor Hung, the coordinator of the event, introduced the local epilepsy resources (including patient self-help organization and social service organization), and called on patients and their families to actively manage their epilepsy and seek support when needs arise.
